Bruna Weingut Blaufrankisch Burgenland 2017
Austria
$30.00
($20.00 MEMBER)
A unique – and very historic – wine from Austria’s eastern vineyards.
Description

It’s pronounced blau-FRANK-ish, and it means “blue French.” This is a heritage varietal from one of Austria’s premier winegrowing regions. In fact, it is the most important wine grape cultivated in this area, with over 7,500 acres planted.

The pleasant, dense ruby color in the glass is bright and clear, with a complex, layered nose of blackberry, plum, vanilla, and smoke. The palate is direct and straightforward, with a mouthfilling texture and rich tannins.

GRILLED ROSEMARY LAMB CHOPS

The rich reds from Austria and Germany stand up well to the dense texture and herbal notes of roasted meats. They work especially well with the moderately gamy flavors of lamb and veal.
